Victims Have the Option of Tort Court

Instead of use of Criminal laws to get justice for medical negligence, a medical negligence solicitor may recommend that victims go through Tort Court instead.

While Criminal courts have the power of putting erring medical practitioners in jail, this benefit may be limited to just a few victims. Since exacting this type of justice caters more to personal satisfaction, chances are the only one who benefit from it will be the victim alone.

But as people say, one can not survive on vengeance alone because feeling can not put food on the table.

However, being able to claim a sizeable financial amount will not only help the victim, but the victim’s family as well. With amounts tending to cover medical expenses and lost wages, families still get to survive despite the loss of income from the breadwinner.

And if one’s solicitor is good enough, an out of court settlement may be able to provide a little bit more money, something beyond what the courts would normally recommend. This extra cash can be used to fund future schooling of children or even to pay for a long desired vacation; with the latter being a timely as it may help a victim recover faster.

But there is a price for everything. And in this case, if a settlement is agreed upon, victims will be prevented from filing a criminal case against the medical practitioner.
