Not all solicitors are the scum of the earth. While there certainly are solicitors who can be compared to vultures that prey on the weak or to hyenas who laugh at the misfortune of others as they rip the very flesh off them, there are solicitors who actually find discord unpleasant.
While criminal solicitors may revel in the thought of putting a big time drug dealer or revolting serial killer in jail, they may find the thought of being in family court distasteful. With husband and wives fighting and brother and sister at each others’ throats, family conflicts can take a toll on even the most hardened solicitor because they have families too.
And it is this strong bond with families that drive medical malpractice solicitors to put in long hours just to secure justice for victims who find themselves at the short end of the justice system.
No one wants to see their father or mother have to undergo an operation to remove a gall bladder, appendix, of even one kidney because of a misdiagnosis. Even if their parents will survive and live, though a somewhat limited lifestyle, the thought having them go under the knife because of a mistake is just morally offensive.
But if seeing one’s parents is difficult, having to go through the same thing with children is worse. How will solicitors tell their children they were not around to protect them when a liver or pancreas is removed because of a medical mistake? To these solicitors, who happen to be parents too, it is downright unthinkable.
